Have a former chiropractor friend who introduced this stuff to me back when I was having neck pains.Of course I used it in conjunction with hardcore Ibuprofen, but before I got the meds that took me a-flit, this gel eased the pain greatly with its heat and cold.It's basically a higher end, holistic version of IcyHot or BenGay.Could be mental but this stuff reminded me of the now harder to find, all-natural Asian formula I used to use as a kid.Of course it's very Tiger-Balmy with its smell, but when you're in pain, who cares if you smell like your grandpa and the vapors feel like they're PineSol'ing your airways.The smell doesn't "vanish" like it does for Biofreeze, which I've also used, but it does subside a lot more than the cheaper stuff.
As for my pops, he was in great pain after his rotator cuff surgery AND subsequent slap lesion tear surgery and this stuff eased his pain during both recoveries.We massaged this stuff into his shoulders right before he'd call it a night which was the worst for him because trying to sleep in that condition was apparently extremely bothersome and painful.My skeptical dad was now hooked on Sombra.
All in all, Sombra has been the best so far especially because of it's massage oil-like quality as well (i.e. the way it gives you time to massage it in like an oil, even though it doesn't of course, last quite as long as one).
